This Fairytale is Not Working Out

** Red, the little girl from the fairy tale, is having a nervous breakdown. Modern dance combined with American Sign Language tells a story with movement, both figuratively and literally. Seven dancers from inFluxdance take over the stage in a series of short, sweet vignettes.I spoke with the choreographers, Rose Beauchamp and Alysia Woodruff, after the performance. Rose does Laban Movement Analysis and Alysia is fluent in sign language. So it was natural that someone versed in a language of movement, and another fluent in a moving language would collaborate. The end result is spectacular. 4/5 Akachic Records

** Wow. This was amazing. There were celery-stick fights on the sidelines, and bananaphones, and fruit and veggies everywhere, and all kinds of movement all over the place. By far the most fun dance show I’ve ever seen. Quite possibly the best dance show I’ve ever seen. Among the best Fringe shows I’ve ever seen. Go see this.cpirate

** Engaging from the start, Boston-based inFluxdance captures its audience in a series of contemporary dance vignettes. Narrated and starring a fairytale character “in the midst of a nervous breakdown” and accompanied by her English Sign Language accomplice/interpreter, this piece is a string of choreographies skillfully put together with a definite appreciation not only for storytelling but for subtle comedy as well. This was a really fun piece and is not to be missed. canada.com

** What a creative and entertaining show! Loved it!

** The dancing was really great, the show was funny and creative. The dance was nice, some of the music was quite good. There is a story attached, based on Little Red Riding Hood, but it doesn’t really tie things together.

** I loved this show. The performers are so talented, so charismatic. Just great. You can’t help but love this wonderful, funny, and thouroughly likable show.

** Wow. I’m not a dance expert, and was a little nervous b/c I didn’t know if I’d "get it," but my friends wanted to go and so I did. Boy was I glad! The choreography was so clever and inventive and inspired and funny and the performers were having such a rollicking good time, and at the same time the dance was mindblowing and precise. I’m still thinking about it days later and smiling in awe.
