To kick off the 2009 season, inFluxdance will be presenting it’s premiere of ‘Honey Sweet Pomegranate Seeds’. This unique and riveting piece integrates original dance composition, innovative videography, and a fascinating musical score.
The story of the Abduction of Persephone is illuminated in this original dance theatre piece that was created and work-shopped in collaboration with students from the University of Virginia’s Dance Program. Students shot footage and gathered sounds that were then used to create the full-length video and musical score. UVa music professor and director of the Virginia Center for Computer Music, Judith Shatin, compiled and created the wildly mysterious music from the sound clips collected. Videographer and photographer, Richard Robinson, is responsible for the video that serves as another element of the dance, creating atmosphere and furthering the story.
