This project served as the first for inFluxdance. Originally choreographed as Rose Pasquarello’s thesis concert, the objective was to create a full length evening work and bring it to it’s fullest using various research on social constructionism and Laban Movement Analysis. The piece itself is entitled This is Not My Beautiful House. It is a dance theatre piece combining movement and text. The piece explores ideas about family; how everybody’s family has shaped them and we a individuals ultimately get to choose our own paths. There are 8 different sections and each has it’s own characteristics and overall feel. Through the eyes of the young narrator (Sarah Lockwood), the pieces encompassing various movment elements including release-based modern dance, athletic prowess, beautiful contact and partnering skills and quirky humor.
